Ex-pats 'lured by Indian property developers'

Indian property developers are trying to tempt ex-pats living in the Gulf to invest in real estate in their homeland, it has been revealed.

According to the Economic Times, the Calicut chapter of the Kerala Builders' Forum is holding a property show in the region between October 23rd and 25th, which will showcase villas, apartments and commercial space.

Chairman of the organisation Haseeb Ahamed told the news provider: "Because of spiralling rentals in Dubai and elsewhere in the region, Indians working here prefer to keep their families back home."

He added Indians in the Gulf can increasingly invest their disposable income in real estate back home because of the depreciating Rupee.

"It is better to invest in real estate in India instead of investing in stocks or other options," he concluded.

Earlier this week, consultant Jones Lang LaSalle Meghraj claimed projected growth in India's manufacturing sector is set to boost the country's real estate market.
