Indo-UK business awards 'to focus on innovation'

Later this month (September 9th), India Business Awards 2008 will be announced in Mumbai, it has been revealed.

According to sify.com, this year the awards will celebrate Indo-UK business partnerships in terms of inward investment, collaborations, entrepreneurship and innovation.

British high commissioner in India, Sir Richard Stagg, said entries for the awards are of a high standard, mirroring the strength of Indian and British business ties, the news provider reports.

Deputy high commissioner in southern India, Mike Connor, added: "I am delighted that South India is part of this success story. UK firms in South India are active across a whole range of sectors."

He went on to say these areas included the automotive, aerospace, electronics, ICT, food and drink, financial services, healthcare, renewable energy and CDM, infrastructure, chemicals, retail and footwear industries.

Earlier this week, reliableplant.com reported fortunes of the Indian manufacturing economy improved in August, driven by substantial growth in production and new orders.
